Totally for real too. Last week on “Smackdown Live”, Dolph Ziggler turned heel for the first time in several years by attacking Kalisto and saying he didn’t need any of the fans or their support. As you might remember, Ziggler was a heel around the time of “Wrestlemania XXIX” and he had quite a bit to say on John Cena in an interview the night before that show. Here are some excerpts from the interview on the “Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast”:

“He is the face of the company for a reason. He does all those Make-A-Wish [wishes] for a reason. He’s constantly in some main event, perhaps WrestleMania’s main event, because he is our poster guy. He is our guy and it’s great. That’s why I hate him. I want to be in that spot and one day I’m going to be. It is so frustrating, especially when I’m like, ‘but I’m so good!’ It drives me. It’s fun and we have a nice little rivalry where he does things his way. We don’t always see things eye-to-eye and it makes things that much more fun.”
While obviously a lot of this is probably in character and should be taken with a bunch of salt, it shows how easily a feud between these two could be put together. Ziggler is better as a heel than a face and really needs some freshening up. I know we’ve heard a lot of these things about Cena before but they’ve worked so many times before that they might as well do it again.
Would you want to see Ziggler vs. Cena? Do you like Ziggler as a heel? Let us know in the comments below.
