The scars of wrestling. Wrestlers are always going to be at a risk of injury as there is really no way to be completely safe. Sometimes a simple slip or a bit of mistiming can cause a lot of damage and that was the case last month when an errant kick caused some serious problems. Now we know the long term effects, and thankfully it is not as bad as it could have been.
On the February 22 edition of Monday Night Raw, Shayna Baszler kicked Asuka in the face, knocking out some of her teeth and giving her a concussion. The latter is the more serious issue, but Asuka has since returned to the ring after being cleared of the concussion protocol. There are some long term effects to deal with though and she has laid them out rather clearly.
Asuka has posted an update on her condition through the NowVoice social media app (with translation courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com), saying that she has temporary teeth to replace those she lost thanks to the kick. It will take about six months for the injury to completely heal and she will eventually have implants installed to replace the teeth that were knocked out.
Asuka is a force of nature in the ring. Check out what she can do when she is healthy:
Opinion: The teeth were a scary situation but what matters most here is being cleared of the concussion. You can’t mess around with those things and thankfully Asuka has been cleared of the worse part. I’m not sure what Asuka is going to be doing at WrestleMania, but now that she is healthy, it is likely something that she can sink her teeth into, whether they are temporary or permanent.
