That sounds like a threat. Every now and then, you see a new wrestler show up and know that WWE has found something. They might come straight to the main roster but most of the time they get their start down in NXT. Their time there can serve as a practice run for the main roster, but once they are promoted, the pressure starts all over again. That was certainly the case for a recent call up.
Monday Night Raw star Damian Priest was interviewed by Sports New Australia where he talked about the pressure that came with being promoted to the main roster. Priest said that he was told if the tag team match with Bad Bunny against Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37 failed, he was “done”. He also spoke about how both sides have to contribute to be successful, with Priest needing to put in the work and WWE needing to support him. Priest is currently scheduled to face Miz at WrestleMania Backlash in a lumberjack match.
The match worked out pretty well. Check out how it went, plus Priest’s efforts since then:
Opinion: That might sound a little bit harsh but it is the reality that comes with working in WWE. At the end of the day, there are all kinds of talented wrestlers who are ready to take your spot as soon as there is an opening. It might sound harsh, but that is never going to change. Priest has risen up to the challenge and has been a success so far, though that is going to have to continue going forward.
How has Priest done so far? What do you want to see him do next? Let us know in the comments below.
