There’s always room for royalty. With AEW set to debut this weekend with Double Or Nothing, it is high time to get as much attention onto the product as possible. There are several ways to do something like this and one of the most successful ways is to bring in some legendary talent. This has to be done in moderation, though one legend is already recruiting another.
Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler appeared together in a question and answer session at this weekend’s Starrcast where Ross mentioned that he would be trying to get Lawler over to AEW as soon as possible. However, on a recent episode of his Dinner With The King podcast, Lawler mentioned that he has signed a new two year contract with WWE, meaning that such a move is not likely taking place for a rather long time.
These two belong together. Check out Lawler’s return to the company to reunite with Ross:
Opinion: I can’t imagine this happening, but at the same time I’m not sure I want to either. AEW is presenting itself as a fairly serious promotion and it might not be the best idea to have Lawler in there with his corny jokes. The idea of him making his comments about the company’s female wrestlers would be rather tricky as well, and I’m not sure that’s a road AEW would want to go do.
