Breaking: New Universal Championship Match Set For Royal Rumble, Braun Strowman Out

I can’t say I’m surprised. Over the last few weeks, it has become clear that Braun Strowman might not be entirely ready for the Royal Rumble. Strowman underwent elbow surgery late last year and wasn’t able to wrestle at Tables Ladders and Chairs. However, he was scheduled to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at the Royal Rumble. Now we have quite the update on the whole thing.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Vince McMahon canceled Strowman’s title shot against Lesnar due to Strowman destroying McMahon’s limo. To find a replacement, McMahon made a fatal four way match between John Cena, Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor and Baron Corbin with the winner getting to face Lesnar. Balor would go on to win the match and earn the right to face Lesnar for the title.

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised and I can’t say that I’m complaining. At the end of the day, Strowman lost a lot of his interest as soon as he lost to Lesnar for the second time. Now that his injury has prevented him from getting in the ring at the Royal Rumble, it’s very nice to get to see someone fresh get in there. I can’t imagine Balor wins the title, but at least it’s something different.
