I see you. There is something special about a mystery wrestler angle. It can offer a lot of intrigue to a show as you are trying to figure out who is going to show up and get involved in something. WWE has been running with something similar with Retribution on Monday Night Raw and now are going for a toned down version on NXT. Now though, we might have an idea of who it is going to be.
Last week on NXT, a video aired showing someone wearing night vision goggles watching someone break into a collection of NXT Championships. The voice over talked about coming back to take what was theirs, with the video ending with the date of Takeover 31. The implication was that it would be a former NXT title holder returning and now we might know a bit more about who it will be.
An image has shown up online showing a closeup from the video. The person shown coming after the titles wipes a bit of dust off a poster, which turns out to be from Takeover: Orlando in 2017. The event was headlined by Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Bobby Roode for the NXT Title, but Aleister Black vs. Andrade and Ember Moon vs. Asuka for the Women’s Title are also included. This would imply that one of those six is returning. Nakamura and Asuka are current champions and Roode just returned to Monday Night Raw. Moon is a former NXT Women’s Champion and has been injured since the September 24, 2019 SmackDown.
Possible hint on the returning NXT star at TakeOver: 31.

It’s a different kind of mystery. Check out the original video:
Opinion: Assuming it is one of these people, you can probably eliminate Nakamura, Roode, Black and Asuka as they all have something going on. Andrade just lost to Keith Lee and Moon could be ready to come back, meaning there are two interesting options. I’m not sure who it is going to be, but NXT has a deep enough history to make for some interesting options.
