He waits alone? WrestleMania is built around the idea of drawing in the biggest names in wrestling for a short term appearance. Sure the full time wrestlers are going to play big roles, but the part time stars are the ones that matter the most. Celebrities have a history of playing major roles as well, and with good reason. If you can draw in people who don’t usually watch wrestling, you can get in a fresh and additional audience. Now one would think that combining those categories would be great, but WWE seems to disagree.

The idea worked very well here.

FULL MATCH - Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Batista - WWE World Heavyweight Match: WrestleMania 30

In a new interview with 106.7 The Fan (Washington D.C.), Batista spoke about WWE wanting him back to team with Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 34. Batista was interested and wanted the match to set up another match with Triple H at WrestleMania 35. WWE seemed interested in the idea but, according to Batista, just stopped responding to him. He tried to contact them again but received no response. At the moment, there are no known plans for Batista to make a WWE return. Here are some highlights from the interview, with transcription courtesy of 411mania.com:

On WWE Reaching Out To Him

“This is all insider stuff, and I usually don’t share. I’m really an old-school kayfabe guy. But they reached out to me earlier this year to possibly come back and do that thing with Ronda [Rousey]. And I said that I would be willing to do it only if we teased something for me and Hunter to go to Mania next year. And they said, ‘Yeah, that would be great. I love that idea.’ And I said, ‘Well, that’s great. I’ll come back a few times during the year, and we’ll tease it, and we’ll work it and we’ll milk it. And we’ll go to Mania, me and Hunter, next year.’ Oh, I love that idea. Let’s do it!”

On WWE Dropping The Idea

“So, we literally talked for about like three weeks and then they just stopped calling me. I sent a text to Hunter. I was like, ‘Hey man, I don’t know if you put any more thought into what’s going on. I’m really excited about the possibilities.’ And I literally never heard back from them. They just stopped talking to me about it. Man, I don’t know what else I can do to try to … I want to end my career the right way. I’m faithful and loyal to the WWE. I’m proud of being from there and I want to do good business with them, but they just don’t make it easy. You know, they just don’t.”

And On Wanting One More Run

“I’m doing okay for myself, so I don’t need to be there. I just, I love it there. Even thought the fans totally crapped on me the last time I was there, I would still go back in a heartbeat and love to entertain them, and I would have fun doing it, man. I’d be happy to be there. But, I just don’t get it, man. I don’t get that company. I just don’t understand.”

Batista has also spoken on not being in the Hall of Fame yet.  Check out his reasoning here.

Opinion: This sounds like either a story with something more to it or Batista is leaving something out. Unless he wanted a crazy amount of money, I can’t imagine WWE not wanting Batista back. Avengers: Infinity War is going to be one of the biggest movies of all time and Batista isn’t someone who has to be trained to wrestle. Bring him in and get a bonus audience with extra money from his appearance. I’d like to hear more on this as it seems that there’s something missing.
