Second in one night. “Battleground 2017” didn’t have the most sizzle in the world on paper as it felt like a show where little was likely to happen. It’s certainly designed as a filler pay per view before we reach one of the big ones with “Summerslam 2017” looking like the real major card. However, the Tag Team Titles already changed hands and the question is if another title would as well.
Alternate angles of AJ Styles winning the U.S. Title from Kevin Owens at Madison Square Garden
It turns out that at least one would, as Kevin Owens defeated AJ Styles to win back the United States Title. This was their third title match after Owens successfully defended the title against Styles at “Backlash 2017”, only to lose it to Styles at a house show in Madison Square Garden.
Opinion: That’s a bit of a surprise but I could see them doing something to set up a fourth match between the two of them. I’d rather we see a big time match at “Summerslam 2017” than a gimmick rematch, especially if it’s not up to par with their original title match. Owens is a good choice for the title but I was into the idea of Styles holding it and making the title feel a little more important.
Do you like Owens winning it back? Who do you see him defending it against at “Summerslam 2017”? Let us know in the comments below.
