The other side of the story. Less than a week ago, WWE had some issues with their Crown Jewel event, held in Saudi Arabia. Well actually it was more with the aftermath of the show, as the WWE personnel, including wrestlers, production team members and staff were all stranded in the country for over twenty four hours. Since then, various stories have come up about what was going on with various theories, many of which have little to do with each other. WWE has said that the delay was due to a mechanical issue, but one of its bigger stars has given a different version of the story.

United States Champion AJ Styles appeared on his Mixer stream on Sunday for a session of gaming and talking with fans. The Saudi Arabian situation was brought up and Styles gave his side of the story. Styles said that he was not entirely sure what happened but agreed with WWE’s version of the story, saying that there was a mechanical issue with the plane. He said that he spoke to the pilots on the plane who confirmed the story while also mentioning that the pilots were unable to fly as they had been on duty for too long.

Styles also mentioned issues between Vince McMahon and the Saudi Arabian government, but said he had no idea what happened with the situation and that he won’t be worried about it at the moment, or at least until he needs to do something about it. He also said that he will not say anything negative about the situation at the moment, though if he finds out more details on it, he will go to the source to talk about it.

Styles was on the show as well. Check out his title defense against Humberto Carrillo:

Opinion: To call this whole thing a mess would be the understatement of the week. There are so many stories, leads, dead ends and question marks that it is almost impossible to know what in the world is going on with the thing. We may never know the full story but that is not going to stop people, including myself, from speculating over it. What matters is that everyone is back home safe and sound, but the interesting question for the future is who is going to go back. This deal is supposed to last for another eight years and I’m rather curious to see how that works in the future.
