It has a good success rate. Wrestling is perhaps the most unique form of entertainment in the world. There is nothing like it with its mixture of action, drama, storytelling and athleticism and no other form of entertainment really comes close. Several wrestlers have backgrounds in other sports and another mainstream sports athlete might be coming into the fold sooner rather than later.

Mixed martial artists have had a rather strong success rate when it comes to transitioning to professional wrestling. Starting back in the 1990s with Ken Shamrock, you have seen all kinds of names such as Dan Severn, Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey, King Mo, Tom Lawlor and several others make the transition to professional wrestling. Now it might be time for another to come over.

Colby Covington, former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion, said that he was planning to switch to WWE in 2021, during an appearance on the What The Heck show. Covington it planning on moving from UFC to WWE in the summer of 2021 and has been working on his wrestling and promo skills. This would not be his first time in professional wrestling, as he appeared in Impact Wrestling in 2017, though he did not wrestle a match with the promotion. There is no word on if WWE would be interested in bringing Covington in.

It would be a big acquisition. Check out his interview and time with Impact Wrestling:

Opinion: This is something that could work out rather well as Covington has shown an incredible amount of charisma during his time in the UFC. He is someone fans seem to enjoy to dislike and that is something that could get him a long way in a WWE career. Covington is only thirty two years old and already has an athletic background so it is hardly a huge jump to the wrestling industry.
