That doesn’t make things better. We are coming to the end of a busy week for WWE as all kinds of things went down over the course of the last several days. A lot of what went down was not the most positive news in the world and it is not clear when some of these things are going to get better. Now that some of the things have passed, we know some more details and one of them might make things even worse.

Over the last several days, WWE has cut or furloughed nearly fifty wrestlers or names in short order. This included main roster wrestlers, NXT wrestlers, producers and various other employees throughout the company. The move was partially done to cut costs due to the lack of revenue coming into the company due to the Coronavirus. However, it turns out that there is another reason included.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, age was also a factor in some of the releases. This is the reason Mike Chioda was released as Chioda is 53 years old and has been with the company for over 30 years. In addition, the youngest of the producers affected is Billy Kidman, at 45 years old. It should be noted that the producers were only furloughed rather than fired or released outright.

There were some big names released. Check out some of their previous work:

Opinion: This is something that can both make sense and not make sense at the same time. First of all, it does make sense to bring in some fresh names as you do need some new blood. At the same time though, there is such a thing as keeping some people around who have been around for a long time who know a little bit more than the younger generation. Hopefully they get their jobs back sooner than later, but that might be easier said than done.

Is this fair from WWE? Who was their biggest loss? Let us know in the comments below.
