Back where it all began. It might not seem like it, but NXT UK has only been around for a little over a year. Maybe it was due to them airing two shows a week for months at a time or maybe it was due to the promotion being rather entertaining at times, but there was something to be said about how far they have come. This includes their own big shows in the form of some Takeovers, though they come at a slower pace than their American counterparts. That pace will be picking up again in just a little while.
NXT UK has held two Takeover events in their history, with Takeover: Blackpool taking place in January 2019 and Takeover: Cardiff taking place in August 2019. There has been no reason given for why the shows are taking place less frequently than the regular NXT Takeovers, which air about once every three months. The shows follow the same basic structure as an American takeover with around five matches per show and we now know when we will be seeing another such card.
The second event was quite the moment. Check out one of the coolest parts that you may not have seen:
According to Wrestlinginc.com, NXT UK has announced a new Takeover during Friday’s television tapings in Hull, England. The next Takeover will be taking place in Blackpool, England on January 11, 2020. No specific location has been announced for the show, though the first Takeover: Blackpool took place at the Empress Ballroom. The show will be taking place fifteen days before the 2020 Royal Rumble, as opposed to the regular NXT Takeovers, which traditionally take place the night before a major WWE pay per view.
The first show had a nice surprise. Check out a main roster appearance:
Opinion: Works for me. These shows may not be as good as their American counterparts, but that isn’t exactly a fair comparison to make. Both main events have been very good and if anything in Blackpool comes close to Tyler Bate vs. Walter in Cardiff, everything is going to be fine. It is too early to say what is going to be taking place at the show but NXT UK certainly has the structure set up to give us a good night of action. NXT UK has a life of its own and under the right circumstances, we could be in for a heck of a show.
