“You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain. Too much love drives a man insane. You broke my will, but what a thrill. Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire”

WrestlingInc is reporting that WWE recieved a copyright claim for the name “Great Balls of Fire.”

On the latest edition of Dinner With The King, a podcast by Glenn Moore and WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, the topic of “Great Balls of Fire” came up. Lawler revealed that Jerry Lee Lewis and WWE, who owns the usage of “Great Balls of Fire” worked out a deal after Lewis wanted compensation over copyright infringement. Lawler explains the situation below.

“My personal attorney here in Memphis is Joe Barton. Good friend of mine and my attorney. I got a phone call from Joe a few weeks ago, and Joe also represents Jerry Lee Lewis. And Joe said, ‘Hey Jerry, do you happen to know who I would contact at the WWE about copyright infringement?’ I go, ‘What? What are you talking about?’ He goes, ‘Well, we understand they are doing a pay-per-view called Great Balls of Fire and Jerry Lee has that phrase trademarked. He has ever since they recorded the song. So, I put him in touch with the WWE people, gave him a name. Apparently he called them and got everything worked out. Not only are they using the name, they are using Jerry Lee’s song, which is awesome.”

If any more news does come out about this upcoming ‘Raw’ exclusive pay-per-view, we at Wrestling Rumors will keep you up to date. The main event will see Samoa Joe take on WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar for the title after Samoa Joe won the Fatal-5-Way match at ‘Extreme Rules,’ this past weekend.

WWE Great Balls of Fire comes to WWE Network on Sunday, July 9

Editor’s Note:

Wow! I did not expect WWE to get caught for copyright infringement in 2017! Shows anything is possible. At least we know they worked everything out and are still allowing WWE to use the song and name for the pay-per-view. Despite the falic shape of the current logo for the PPV, I strongly believe this will turn out to be a seriously impressive show.

Did you ever think you’d see WWE get caught for something like this? What are your thoughts on the logo itself? Let us know in the comments below or over on our Facebook page or Twitter account. Additionally, you can find me on Twitter at @SOSNH1995.
