We need more Samoans. While WWE has had a string of major problems as of late, their TV ratings are probably near the top of the list. The NBA Playoffs have wrecked havoc on the “Monday Night Raw” and “Smackdown Live” audiences and it’s clear that WWE needs to make some changes to improve on things. It turns out that things might be turning around a bit, at least for one week.

This week’s episode of “Monday Night Raw” reached a seven week high with the best numbers they’ve seen both in audience and ratings since April. According to 411mania.com, the show drew a 1.04 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.994 million viewers, up 15% and 20% over the previous week. The show was coming off “Extreme Rules 2017” which saw Samoa Joe become #1 contender to the Universal Title. It also didn’t have to deal with an NBA Finals game for a change.

Opinion: I’m sure coming off a pay per view helped but the reality is much more likely the lack of basketball. History has shown that no wrestling, not even the Attitude Era, could hold up against mainstream sports. Basketball, and hockey to a lesser degree, have destroyed the WWE’s ratings and this is a sign that those fans are still around, which is very encouraging.
