The video below introduces Rhodes to GFW and was only filmed and released approximately ten months ago. We highly recommend this video before continuing as a way of showcasing how Rhodes felt in joining the company before you get a sense as to why she is no longer with them.
It appears that Rhodes requested for her release and was granted it by the company. This is due to the fact that she landed a role working a non-wrestling television show in Atlanta, Georgia. GFW wanted a portion of her earnings which Rhodes would refuse. This is when she would ask for her release.
In the future, Rhodes does plan to continue wrestling for Ring of Honor with husband Cody and various independent promotions. The most recent promotion she competed at was WrestleCircus where she would face Kevin Condron in a match where if Condron won, he would get to face Cody later in the night for the ROH Championship.
Editor’s Note:
I don’t blame her for leaving. I know Cody wanted to focus on ROH and NJPW in particular, so didn’t expect her to stick around for long. Than their new policy of asking talent for a portion of the money they receive isn’t exactly the best way to keep talent happy and under contract.
