Since the beginning of this year WWE has strengthened its bonds with several independent wrestling companies such as Scotland’s Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) as shown with the most recent announcement by the promotion.

WWE and ICW have today confirmed that Pete Dunne will be defending his WWE UK Championship in a match at the next ICW pay-per-view later this month.

Pete Dunne will defend WWE United Kingdom Title in a Fatal 4-Way Match at ICW's Shug's Hoose Party 4

The video above features a semi-censored version of the announcement by ICW via the WWE YouTube channel where ICW owner Mark Dallas announces the upcoming match for UK Champion Pete Dunne, following a match between ICW veterans BT Gunn and Wolfgang. Wolfgang should be a familiar name as he is signed with WWE as part of the UK brand.

The confirmed match will take place at the ‘Shug’s Hoose Party 4’ ICW PPV and will see Pete Dunne defend his UK Championship against BT Gunn, Wolfgang and Trent Seven in a Fatal 4 Way match. This takes place on July 29 in Glasgow, Scotland. Tickets are still available to the show if you are in the area. You can purchase them here.

WWE released the following statement about the match:

“Pete Dunne’s next defense of the WWE United Kingdom Championship will come at Insane Championship Wrestling’s “Shug’s Hoose Party 4” event on Saturday, July 29 in Glasgow, Scotland. The BruiserWeight will put his title on the line against Trent Seven, Wolfgang and BT Gunn in a Fatal 4-Way Match.

The four-man fray was made after a battle at ICW’s July 9 event between Gunn and Wolfgang, who left it all in the ring en route to fighting to a time limit draw. After the bell, it was announced that both men would be facing Dunne for the U.K. Title, as well as Seven.

There’s no love lost between Dunne and The Man from Moustache Mountain, especially after The BruiserWeight defeated Seven to earn a U.K. Championship opportunity at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, which he capitalized on by beating Tyler Bate for the gold. Wolfgang made it clear after the WWE United Kingdom Championship Live special in May that all he wants is an opportunity at the title. Then there’s Gunn, who’s a bit of an unknown factor. Can he make the most of this enormous opportunity?”

Also of note is that Noam Dar will be returning to ICW to participate in the ‘Shug’s Hoose Party 4’ festivities as he is involved in a Tag Team match where he and former partner Sha Samuels will take on ICW Champion Joe Coffey and current GW Impact star Grado, who is also part of the ICW roster.

WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash is scheduled to appear for the promotion later this year to manage Fear and Loathing X.

Editor’s Note:

One of my favorite promotions in general is ICW so I am very excited for both Noam Dar to appear and for Dunne to defend his Championship. I have high expectations for both nights of the event. I may even cover them if there is enough interest, so be sure to let us know on our social media whether you’d like that or not.
