In 2014, WWE Studios and Warner Bros. teamed up to release “Scooby-Doo! WrestleMania Mystery.” The direct-to-home release featured various WWE Superstars (some of whom are no longer with the company) helping Scooby-Doo and his crew catch a criminal who threatened the main event of WrestleMania.
According to Variety, the project was enough of a success the company has decided to delve into yet another film.
WWE Studio will reportedly release a second “Scooby-Doo” film, once again starring WWE Superstars as part of its cast. The film will be set for release in 2016, with a release time set around WrestleMania 32.
While many details are being kept secret, the report states Hulk Hogan will be prominently featured in the film. Hogan is one of the most recognizable names in the sports and entertainment industry, so his inclusion should come as no surprise. The doors were opened for an appearance when he returned to the company earlier this year.
WWE also plans on going forth with a “Flintstones” film, though specific details for that have yet to be announced. It is likely this sequel will also be a direct-to-home release.
