WWE has released former Alberto Del Rio manager Ricardo Rodriguez, according to a tweet from his personal Twitter account. The tweet was as followed:

Rodriguez has not been seen as an active character in WWE since October of 2013, just after he served as the manager for Rob Van Dam in his World Heavyweight Championship program against Del Rio. Rodriguez, real name Jesús, would defeat Del Rio in a singles match before being attacked and written off television.

Most recently he had been used in NXT as a wrestler under the name “El Local,” teaming with a masked Tyson Kidd. He also served as the third Spanish commentator for WWE pay-per-views.

WWE has yet to release an official statement.

Editor’s Note

It’s unfortunate, but if in-ring work is his passion, Ric-Rod should go for it. He will be missed.
