During the fall season in 2014, many rumors began to circulate WWE would be moving its B-program “Smackdown” off Friday nights and moving the show back to its original Thursday night slot. Eventually, the company would confirm such rumors, with the show returning to Thursdays starting Jan. 15.
With the move anticipated, TNA moved its flagship show, “Impact Wrestling,” off Thursday nights to Wednesdays, but it will now air on Fridays with its new deal with Destination America.
There appears to be more moving around however, and this time, it’s on the WWE end.
WWE will move its highly-touted “NXT” program, which airs on the WWE Network, as well. While the show currently streams Thursday nights, the company has confirmed via a video it will now be airing at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday nights.
“NXT” is entirely pre-taped, so it is unlikely this would have any interference with live programming on the network itself.
Editor’s Note
A move that needed to be done. “Smackdown” on Thursdays is a good thing all around.
