Earlier this week, it was reported WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan was expected to be back in the ring in the later parts of June. This would then set him up for an angle at the “Money in the Bank” pay-per-view, where he would face Kane in a Buried Alive match.
However, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, plans are changing regarding Bryan at this moment in time.
According to the report, there was a mistake made in the advertisements that had Bryan wrestling in June live events. There is still skepticism that he would actually be ready for the June 29 pay-per-view in Boston, Mass. Should he not be ready, WWE would then need to push the plans for his eventual payoff match with Kane to occur at the “Battleground” pay-per-view in July.
Word is the injury was a little worse than previously expected, but it is still unclear as to whether the company would be stripping him of the titles. The consensus has been if he is only out a little while, it would not be worth doing.
Stephanie McMahon gave Bryan an ultimatum on “Monday Night Raw,” saying he must surrender his titles at “Payback,” or face his wife Brie Bella getting fired from the company. Bella hinted at wanting to start a family in a recent interview with E!, leading to a belief she may be wanting to take some time off.
Editor’s Note:
WWE has to be super careful in how long its champion is out. As he’s gone, it will rely heavily on stars from The Shield and Triple H to carry programming as they have so far.
