Alberto El Patron, formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE, recently made his debut in Ring of Honor. But that doesn’t seem to be the be-all, end-all for the former champion.

According to a new report from F4WOnline, TNA President Dixie Carter wants the hottest commodity in wrestling for the company’s big debut on Destination America this upcoming Wednesday.

The report states the company is willing to do what it takes to get the 38-year-old under contract in order to help breathe new life into the product. Carter is attempting to re-brand “Impact Wrestling” as it makes its move from Spike with a special broadcast Wednesday. TNA is holding three tapings at the Manhattan Center in New York City.

Given his deal with Ring of Honor, the contract would have to be non-exclusive, which TNA has had difficulty in guaranteeing in the past. He is currently being coveted by many wrestling organizations around the world, but is also wanted in the world of MMA. Bellator is said to be aggressively pursuing him, and he has a background in shoot fighting. He is also involved with Lucha Underground.

Following Wednesday’s broadcast, “Impact” will move to Friday nights permanently.

Editor’s Note

He has star power, and given freedom, can be an elite draw. But will it make that much of a difference, ultimately?
