With Sami Zayn the champion of the NXT brand after defeating Adrian Neville at “NXT: R Evolution,” a lengthy title reign may be on the horizon.

No champion in NXT history has held the gold for fewer than 133 days (Seth Rollins).

Although superstars have been called up to the main roster while still in possession of the NXT Championship, there’s a chance Zayn could be kept down in developmental as an exclusive attraction for the show.

Per F4WOnline.com, WWE officials are looking into creating a lengthy feud between Zayn and Kevin Owens.

The two have a storied relationship prior to WWE, including being Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions as El Generico and Kevin Steen.

While not yet confirmed, we could be seeing a Zayn vs. Owens match for the strap as soon as the next NXT special event on the WWE Network.

Editor’s Note

WWE needs to be extra careful with Zayn. They’ve caught lightning in a bottle with his immense popularity. Perhaps getting him on television and keeping him there would be wise. Then again, you can sign me up for a Zayn/Owens program any day of the week.
