This past week on “Monday Night Raw,” former Divas Champion Paige made her WWE television return after having been attacked by Naomi after WrestleMania. During her absence, Tamina also made her return to action, aligning with Naomi and gearing their intentions towards the Bella Twins. Paige attacked all entities Monday, which then led to a verbal spar Thursday night. In a new tweet, Tamina responds to controversial comments made by Paige on “Smackdown.”
Paige referred to Tamina as a man who was competing in the wrong division on the program. Below is a transcript of her promo:
“Ladies and gentlemen, that’s when Naomi finally became relevant. You’re welcome, pumpkin. But Naomi I actually have this weird admiration for you because you know what? You took what you wanted. And I get it, I’ve done it countless times. And along the way, you found yourself a little boyfriend, Tamina. Tamina, Tamina, Tamina. I have a question though, Tamina: Aren’t you competing in the wrong division?”
Tamina responded on Twitter:

Paige then fired back at her:

The verbal spar is an interesting one. WWE has been a vocal advocate for Gay, Lesbian, LGBT and gender equality causes over the past several years, hence the picture of Tamina supporting the “NoH8” campaign. It is unclear at this point of Paige’s comments on “Smackdown” were scripted or if she went off the cuff in making the remarks.
Interestingly enough, this incident comes the same week as a report surfacing that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon in particular are planning to put more of an emphasis on female wrestling in WWE in the near future. Simultaneously, TNA Knockout Gail Kim accused Vince McMahon of being sexist for his booking of WWE Divas in the past and present, and felt Triple H had a good grasp on things.
Editor’s Note
Not sure if in-character or not, but this is bad, bad, bad press for WWE.
