Rob Van Dam has been tearing up the independent circuit well into his 40s, headlining show after show across the United States. But as has been the trend over the past couple of years, it appears he may be ready for another stint with WWE.
According to an exclusive from WrestleZone, Van Dam is currently slated to be an entrant in the 2015 Royal Rumble match. RVD had been rumored for such an appearance several months ago.
The pairing of Van Dam and Philadelphia makes all too much sense. Van Dam crafted his following at the ECW Arena in Philly many moons ago, and the rabid ECW fan base that will surely be at the “Royal Rumble” pay-per-view at the Wells Fargo Center will most definitely be awaiting his return. Van Dam previously returned to WWE at the arena for “Money in the Bank” in 2013.
Van Dam was most recently seen on WWE television in December, presenting a Slammy Award on “RAW.” It is expected he will remain with the company through WrestleMania season.
He finished his most recent WWE run just after “SummerSlam,” and works on a contract that allows him to stay for a period of time and leave and work independent dates.
Editor’s Note
I was there in Philly the first time when he came back. The roof will blow off that place once again.
