As many fans noticed, John Cena was held off this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. According to PWInsider.com, this was in fact due to his injured eye.

Cena reportedly injured his eye in a weekend live event match with Randy Orton, as Orton apparently scratched him with his nail. The report states that there had been a worry that Cena’s cornea may have been damaged, but luckily for WWE, that seems not to be the case.

The feeling was that if he was brought on camera, the eye would not appear completely healed, and officials wanted to give him another week for it to go back down to normal size. Cena did make a run-in after Raw went off the air, helping take out Kane and Orton.

He will be returning to television next week.
