While no one has been able to confirm any specifics as to what has gone down, the latest word is that Japanese wrestling superstar KENTA is in fact on his way to WWE.
Wrestling Rumors reported last month that there had been a lot of speculation as to whether the world-renowned star would be making a jump to WWE, with KENTA even taking note of it on his personal blog. He posted:
“It is indeed true that I have always been yearning for a spot in WWE, and I’ve always wanted to give it a try sometime. After all, you only live once. ‘I should have given it a try.’ ‘I should have chosen another way.’ I’ve had those regrets when I was in my middle and high school, and even after I got in to this business. I just did not want to regret later about something I haven’t tried, so I used my time off to participate in the WWE workout. The executives were at the workout, so perhaps I may have left a mark.”
According to the Tokyo Sports, fellow KENTA’s fellow Pro Wrestling NOAH star Takashi Sugiura confirmed to the outlet that KENTA would be headed to WWE this upcoming summer. Furthering on that, he also explained the plan as of now was for them to debut him in NXT, the company’s developmental program.
The 33-year-old is known stateside for his time in Ring of Honor, alongside popularizing what would become CM Punk’s finisher, the “Go To Sleep.”
Editor’s Note:
This could be a great pickup for WWE, as he is a proven wrestling workhorse. How about we not package him with ethnic ties, though, and just let the guy go on his own?
