Former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn has decided to leave the company effective immediately. WWE released the following statement on its website.
“As of Jan. 8, Kaitlyn (Celeste Bonin) will no longer be under contract with WWE. The former Divas Champion has chosen to pursue other endeavors outside the sports-entertainment world.
WWE wishes Kaitlyn the best in all her future endeavors.”
It is unknown at this time what led to her departure from the company, but she does have a past with outside endeavors prior to joining WWE. Before turning to wrestling full-time, she was a body builder and fitness model.
The move may come as a surprise to many, as she had a relatively successful 2013. Bonin was named as the No. 5 best female wrestler in the world by PWI for her contributions during the year, and she saw a Divas Championship reign that lasted 153 days.
She was last seen working as a heel in the feud against the girls of Total Divas. She was also the winner of NXT Season 3 when it was a competition. Bonin recently got engaged to fellow bodybuilder PJ Braun, which may play a part in her wanting to step away from being on the road.
***UPDATE*** 10:55 a.m. ET
Bonin herself has taken to Twitter to give insight as to what happened. She noted that she is leaving the company on her own terms.
Today is bittersweet. I've officially left @WWE on my own terms. Much love to WWE and all of you guys. http://t.co/Kch3WEEaGo

I'll make a video for you guys and answer some questions later this week… maybe I'll even do an interpretive ribbon dance. MAYBE

Alongside, Braun posted a tweet that gives more insight as to what she is leaving the company for. He teased that she has a “huge” project ahead of her.
My fiancé @KaitlynWWE has officially stepped down from the WWE to focus on an AWESOME new project. It's going to be HUGE! Very proud of her!
