Some more sad news has crossed the wrestling industry Monday morning, as WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has stomach cancer, as released via a statement.
Snuka’s wife Carole spoke with Bill Apter and gave a statement on the news:
“Jimmy’s been diagnosed with stomach cancer. And they have removed the cancer and have removed a portion of his stomach and his lymph nodes. The doctors said he did very well, they’re very happy with the outcome, he still has a long road ahead of him. The doctor says he’s an amazingly strong man, and we all know how strong Jimmy is and Jimmy can take a beating. And he says he’s ready for this fight, and he also wants to let his fans know that he’s not done yet.”
“Jimmy and I would just like to first off extend our heartfelt condolences to Roddy Piper’s wife Kitty and their four children. It was very difficult for me to tell Jimmy about the passing of his wrestling brother but I did and we cried together, and Jimmy reminisced about their many good times that they had together. When Jimmy spoke about Roddy and all the times they had together and told me about Roddy’s character and the type of person he was, and what I’ve also seen for myself in the many times I met Roddy, made me think of a quote by Maya Angelou. She says:
‘I’ve learned that people will forget what you say. And people will forget what you do. But they will never let you forget the way you made them feel.’
And Roddy always gave 100 percent. And you can’t give anymore than that. Jimmy just wants to say,’ I love you brother, and you will always be in my heart.”
