The Ultimate Warrior was announced Monday night as the first inductee to the WWE Hall of Fame for 2014, and rumors have since swirled as to who would be inducting him. With Warrior having burned many of the bridges he has in the wrestling industry, no clear name had come to light to be the one to send him into the stage of wrestling immortality. But The Wresting Observer now says one unlikely man may just do the honors.
Dave Meltzer is reporting that Hulk Hogan’s name has been floated around backstage as being the one to induct his former friend/foe. Hogan and Warrior have had a well-documented feud going for years, featuring both men taking professional and personal jabs at one another.
However, in a new TMZ video, Hogan claims that the feud has been buried, and he no longer thinks poorly about the future Hall of Famer.
The two men date back to the early 1990s, which saw Warrior on the rise in the WWF. Following a high-profile build, the two met in the main event of WrestleMania VI where Hogan’s WWF Championship was on the line against Warrior’s Intercontinental Championship. Warrior ultimately pinned Hogan in a huge turn of events, leading him to become the first person to hold both titles at the same time.
In 1991, Warrior made headlines for his conflicts with the company, including stating that he meant more at the time than Hogan did. In 2011, he released a vulgar tirade against Hogan from his YouTube account.
With the Hall of Fame date quickly approaching in April though, it appears the two sides may have made amends. Hogan has been rumored for a WWE return for some time now, and it is likely he will be involved with WrestleMania XXX in some capacity. With this in mind, a reunion for the two most certainly seems possible.
