While The Shield defeated Evolution in a three-on-three tag match at “Extreme Rules,” PWInsider.com reports that plans are still being laid out for how the two factions will collide at the upcoming “Payback” special event.
As teased at the end of this week’s “Monday Night Raw,” Evolution is out for revenge still. Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton left The Shield, and more notably, Roman Reigns laying and beaten at the end of the night, with the group hitting Reigns with The Shield’s trademarked triple powerbomb. This insinuated that a program would be continuing between the two units.
The report states that there is still the possibility of doing some kind of six-man tag, likely with a stipulation. However, it is also possible that they may look into making three singles matches between the six man, making it like a best-of-three series.
This may very well be the case, as it was said that Batista vs. Roman Reigns had been planned for “Monday Night Raw,” but was eventually scrapped for the actual main event of The Shield vs. The Wyatt Family. This may have been because they wanted to save it for the big show on June 1 in Chicago.
At one point, Daniel Bryan vs. Batista had been penciled in for “Monday Night Raw” and was to be the main event of the special event, though those plans were scrapped.
Editor’s Note:
I could get behind a series of singles matches, though the issue is, that could very well happen on any episode of “Raw.” If they do, I hope this is not where they do Triple H vs. Roman Reigns, as it must happen on a bigger stage.
