Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan recently spoke with Mirror to discuss his recently-released book. Below are a few highlights from the piece.

Bryan spoke on what it was like for his wife to follow up The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania ending:

There were also little things that were important in the day to me. Brie [Bryan’s wife, WWE Diva Brie Bella] had to go out right after that. It was important to me, Brie’s experience at WrestleMania too. We were getting married five days later! So she has to go out with all the other Divas right after The Undertaker’s streak has ended. So I was watching that and being very concerned for her and them, because that’s a very tough position to be in. I talk a lot about that kind of stuff in the book, but yes, also the fact it was very unlikely I was going to be in the main event at WrestleMania when they started planning the main event of WrestleMania in January. I was nowhere near the top of the card when the original line-up for WrestleMania was planned out.

He discussed how fans can impact the WWE product on-screen:

There is this realization that by cheering they may have the power to change that. I think last year specifically it was almost the case that the fans didn’t know, they didn’t know if they could change it. But it’s very powerful, this idea is powerful. Imagine if you could watch a movie and as you’re watching the movie you realize that the supporting character is actually your favorite character, and you want him to be the guy who saves the day. And, somehow, by yelling at your TV screen or something like that, you could actually change how the movie pans out. That would be incredible! In wrestling you can.

He also noted how WrestleMania 28 was essentially a microcosm of his career:

Yeah. And there were fewer people chanting ‘yes’ at WrestleMania 28, but there were enough that it changed the way that they perceived me, the way the company perceived me. They thought ‘we have to use this guy because these people are starting to get behind him’. Which was great. But then at WrestleMania 29, the tag team match with Kane against Dolph Ziggler and Big E, there was still close to 70,000 people chanting ‘yes’, but it was different. You keep seeing it and it’s like ‘hey, everywhere we go this guy is entertaining us, and all the crowds love him, so why does it feel like they are not giving him a chance?’ And they’re like ‘we’re going to root for him even louder’.

I definitely plan on picking this up sometime soon.
