CM Punk is once again making headlines, and not necessarily in a good way. Punk, who has never been shy to share his opinions on Twitter, made a controversial comment this morning in regards to Catholic Pope Benedict XVI. Following the Pope announcing his resignation, Punk replied to a fan on Twitter.

This is far from the first time Punk has been involved in a dispute on Twitter. Last February, Punk exchanged a war of words with hip-hop singer Chris Brown. The fight was picked up by many media outlets, and brought some unwanted attention to WWE.

Also, Punk has never shied away from confrontations with fans. In 2011, Punk was involved in a verbal exchange with a fan at a house show in which he used a homophobic slur which resulted in backlash from several outlets as well.

Then last May, Punk told a fan to “kill himself” after disagreeing with Punk’s views on same-sex marriage. Punk would later apologize for the incident.

UPDATE #1

Former WWE Champion and current TNA wrestler Kurt Angle has responded to CM Punk’s remarks on the Pope.

Angle and Punk have traded words via social media before, with the Olympic gold medalist instigating an argument between two.
