Big E has been making some noise on the WWE scene over the past several weeks, as vignettes for “A New Day” have been airing. E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods make up the new group, and the vignettes have featured the three men in stereotypical southern Baptist-esque preacher roles with choirs celebrating the “new day.”
As noted Tuesday, the new group will make its debut on this week’s edition of “Friday Night Smackdown,” the day after the Thanksgiving festivities in the United States. Big E took to Twitter to make fun of the debut.
#TheNewDay debuts on Black Friday. Sounds about right.

The new faction was teased several months ago for the first time on WWE television, with many referring to it as the “New Nation.” The nickname was in response to the highly-controversial Nation of Domination faction from the Attitude Era, which insinuated a “black power” movement.
Ultimately, Woods would start referring to his team as the “Smart Athletic Friends” as they performed during live events and dark matches, and the new gimmick only recently began to be hyped on television.
WWE has faced its fair share of racism claims over the past year. Alberto Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez both pointed fingers at the company for what they claimed to be slurs against Mexicans during their tenure as performers.

Oh boy…keep fueling that fire. But you do have to love the guy’s sense of humor.
