The photos, released today by WWE, show the design process taken before the current design was finalised. Rejected designs include a belt featuring a red leather strap and a belt featuring a modernised ‘winged-eagle’ design, featuring a massive, three-dimensional eagle grasping onto the central WWE logo with its talons.

Once the design was finalised, the process took over 18 months to complete and cost over $50,000. WWE even involved Orange County Choppers, the team from the hit reality series ‘American Chopper’, to assist with the manufacturing process of the title. WWE also revealed that the title was initially set to be unveiled at WrestleMania XXVIII, which didn’t come off.
