Robert Horne, who wrestled as “Mo” alongside tag team partner Melson “Mabel” Frazier, is suffering from major kidney failure. In a letter sent out by the former WWE Tag Team Champion, Horne stated that he had ” battled with kidney disease that is now end-stage renal failure” for the last seven years.
[colored_box color=”grey”]”Doctors say Horne is a good candidate for a transplant and is on the list but that list is ever increasing and often by the time a suitable donor is found, it is too late. Horne is fortunate though because his step-daughter has offered to donate one of her kidneys and is willing to put off her college and career plans to help her step-father.”[/colored_box]
Although his step-daughter has volunteered for the procedure, it can be extremely dangerous, and there is a steep medical cost which must be paid prior to the surgery. Horne and his family must raise $30,000 out of the total $150,000 before a doctor is allowed to operate. He has been in contact with WWE for help, but has expressed frustrations with the company’s unwillingness to pay for his treatments.
[colored_box color=”grey”]“The WWE has made money from my likeness for 20 years and will continue to do so after I am dead and gone. They donate millions from a corporate account to help people in the ghetto and they have spent hundreds of thousands on rehab for people. I asked them for help and they sent me a couple of small boxes of merchandise worth maybe a couple hundred dollars to auction off … Maybe I should turn into an alcoholic or a drug addict or get arrested for DUI … [WWE] are not willing to help anyone with legitimate medical issues.”[/colored_box]
Mo – or “Sir Mo” – is a former WWE Tag Team Champion and wrestled alongside Mabel for many years. His partner went by many names throughout his run, including King Mabel, Viscera, and Big Daddy V.
