We’ve just learned that former WWE star Jimmy Snuka has passed away at the age of 73. This comes just weeks after being declared unfit to stand trial in the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino, in 1983.
Snuka was diagnosed with stomach cancer late in 2015, and it seems that the disease is what ultimately took his life.
A number of WWE stars took to social media earlier today expressing their sympathies for Snuka’s passing.
Snuka was linked to the Anoa’i family by marriage, and the messages included one from the family’s most famous star, the Rock.

While the outpouring of support is heartwarming, it’s tough to separate news of Snuka’s passing from the circumstances of his death.
Snuka was accused in the 1983 murder of girlfriend Nancy Argentino. The case rested for decades, but Snuka was arrested in 2015 in connection to the killing. The charges were dismissed earlier this month, when it was determined that Snuka was mentally unfit to stand trial.
With Jimmy Snuka’s passing, it seems we may never know the truth of the matter. With the case reopened, the WWE Hall of Famer was excised from the company’s official website. WWE’s Twitter account has retweeted many public expressions of sympathy for the legend’s passing.
Regardless of the circumstances of Snuka’s death, we send our deepest condolences to his family.
