We’re a few weeks away from the Royal Rumble event, and WWE is expected to continue their annual tradition of having three or four surprise entrants in the Rumble match. Will Kurt Angle be one of them? As of right now, the answer appears to be no.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that, as of Friday, WWE hasn’t contacted Angle about making a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble. They also noted that the surprises are typically contacted at the last minute, so that doesn’t mean that WWE won’t reach out to the former WWE Champion in the coming weeks.

“Regarding rumors of Kurt Angle in the Royal Rumble, as of this morning, there is nothing to them. That isn’t a cryptic thing. There’s been no discussion as of today. Sometimes they don’t call people until the last minute (which is why they sometimes get turned down because many older guys don’t have time to get in shape).”

The Observer has also reported that Angle is telling independent promoters that he won’t be available in the spring, because he is returning to WWE. So, it looks like Angle believes that he’ll be WWE bound at some point this year.

Other big names that could be surprise entrants in this year’s Royal Rumble include Samoa Joe and Finn Balor.

Do you think we’ll see Kurt Angle return at the Royal Rumble? If not, do you think we’ll see him in WWE at all this year? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Facebook!
