We thought a third showdown between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar was a given, but maybe we shouldn’t have been so quick to assume. Current speculation suggests Goldberg and Lesnar are meeting in the 2017 Royal Rumble that will lead to another singles match at WrestleMania.
Their two-minute meeting at Survivor Series got a lot of people talking and generated a lot of interest, but now that WWE is gauging interest in a third meeting between the two, the results seem to be more mixed.
A poll currently running at WWE.com asks “Would you like to see Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar III?” with the responses being “Yes. I want to see what an angry Brock Lesnar does in response to his loss at Survivor Series.” and “No. Goldberg won their first two matches, there is nothing else to prove.”
Given the time and money WWE has put into promoting the super-feud here, they’re likely disappointed by how close the polls are, with a very slim majority of 51% expressing interest in the match.
Of course, the problems with online polls are well-documented, and this should be taken as indication that WWE’s premiere program is going off the rails. Still, it can be taken as a sign that WrestleMania plans are far from set in stone.
