Update: Jan Ross has passed away as a result of her injuries. Our deepest sympathies go with the Ross family.

Original Story:

JR has provided a medical update on his wife following her auto accident two nights ago, and things don’t sound good.

Posting to his own website, JR says that she suffered “a catastrophic brain injury including multiple skull fractures.”

As previously reported, the incident occurred while Jan Ross was riding her Vespa near the couple’s home in Oklahoma. She wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.

Jim has added that she was struck from behind by an automobile driven by a young man of 17. The accident was about 30 miles from their home.

Even in writing, JR sounds distraught, saying “I will fully admit that there has been no experience in my life that could have prepared me for this life changing week. To see one’s life partner and love of one’s life being kept alive via life support equipment is tragically heartbreaking.”

Jim’s Twitter post during her surgery said simply that they “need a miracle,” and it doesn’t sound like that has changed.

“My wife would be so moved to know how many of you are praying for her,” JR added. “This update has been written through many tears and shaky hands but please know that your support and love for Jan, and me, is both comforting and appreciated. God Bless you all.”
