It’s been a long time coming, but tonight was finally the time. New owners have stepped in to purchase TNA, and Dixie Carter is out as chairman.
The new purchaser is Anthem Sports & Entertainment, who have entered into an agreement to purchase a majority interest in TNA Impact Wrestling. This confirms earlier speculation.
Anthem owns a Canadian channel called the Fight Network, and a pro wrestling program is a logical addition to their combat sports lineup.
Dixie Carter will be stepping down as chairman of the board to join an advisory position of the Fight Media Group, the organization which holds Anthem’s combat sports-related assets.
Carter was quoted in an official press release.
“Anthem has been a great partner for many years. We have worked hard to find the right company who would acquire TNA, use its strategic influence and have a long-term commitment to the brand. TNA’s incredible fans, talent and staff deserved to see the brand continue to thrive after 15+ years of incredible growth. I’m excited to move to a new position and work with Anthem on their global strategic plan, and I am confident TNA IMPACT Wrestling is going to be a huge part of their success.”
Many reports continue to suggest that TNA founder, Jeff Jarrett, is in continued talks with Anthem to rejoin the company.
TNA is scheduled for a major taping session tomorrow. There’s no word if their new ownership will have an affect on those recordings.
