WWE has done an uncharacteristically excellent job of booking Braun Strowman, turning a green Wyatt Family add-on into a convincing beast in a fairly short time. They’ve done it so well, in fact, we were excited to see him in a Universal Championship match.
Raw GM Mick Foley made the contest earlier in the evening, pitting Universal Champion Kevin Owens against Braun in a singles match for the title. Owens, fresh off his brutal victory–in which Strowman was involved–at Royal Rumble, had reasonably protests.
Reigns came down in the middle of the match to end the match in a DQ mess, spearing both competitors and leaving the ring. It seems that we’re building toward a Strowman/Reigns match at Fastlane.

Jericho is on commentary and for some reason, Strowman goes over and chokeslams him through the table. Owens bails to the floor at the bell and some right hands have no effect. A dropkick puts Strowman on the floor but he runs Kevin over with ease back inside.
Kevin is knocked into the barricade and this is one sided so far. The way running charge sends Strowman head first into the post though and Owens adds a Cannonball against the barricade. A backsplash and frog splash give Owens two but Strowman comes back with the powerslam. Cue Reigns though and it’s a DQ at 4:40.
Result: Braun Strowman b. Kevin Owens via DQ when Roman Reigns interfered (4:40)
