It was only a matter of time before Shinsuke Nakamura hit WWE’s main stage, and it sounds like that time is not very far away.
We reported yesterday that there was reason to believe Nakamura would be out of NXT soon, because he was notably absent from promotional material for the brand’s upcoming UK tour in June.
Now a new report from today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) is corroborating that idea.
Current plans call for Nakamura to hit the main roster very soon, with the Raw after WrestleMania being “a good bet.” That’s bad news for those hoping he might be Shane’s second against AJ Styles, but perhaps Nakamura vs. Styles can be our WrestleMania headliner next year.
With that in mind, the outcome of the Takeover: Orlando seems obvious. Bobby Roode is set to defend the NXT Championship against Nakamura, and with the latter star set for a main roster debut it seems unlikely that he’d capture the championship here.
That’s not to say it’s impossible, of course. Kevin Owens made his main roster debut and defeated John Cena as the reigning NXT Champion.
In any case, we couldn’t be more excited to see how Nakamura shakes up the main roster. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook!
