The dust has finally cleared from Hulk Hogan’s sex tape scandal–which, you may recall, involved the Hulkster making some racially charged comments.
Though he’s not been fully reintegrated in WWE’s history books, the company’s been a bit more willing to let his name appear on air, and a WrestleMania appearance in the near future has been a subject of major speculation.
Now there’s an interesting bit of news coming from Big Blondes LLC, the company which owns “Hogan’s Beach” in Florida.
According to a report from PWInsider, they filed for a trademark on the name “Thunderlips” a week ago. Thunderlips, of course, is the character Hogan portrayed in Rocky III, a few years before the first WrestleMania and the global rise of the WWF.
It seems the “trademark was specifically applied for a character that would provide services as a professional wrestler.”
What will this actually amount to? No solid idea. Most likely some extra merchandising at Hogan-branded tourist spots.
Given a certain other recent sex tape scandal–and the distance now between Hogan and his remarks–it seems to simply be a matter of time before things are forgotten and he’s back on WWE TV. (Probably not as Thunderlips, though.)
