Mickie James had an impressive match with Asuka at TakeOver: Toronto, and it seems we weren’t the only ones impressed. We already heard that Mickie had been offered a full-time contract with WWE, and now we’re getting confirmation that she’s accepted the deal–along with some details about what’s in store.
According to PWInsider, James signed a multi-year with WWE. She’s expected to make her main roster return in January on SmackDown–but those plans are subject to change.
Still, it appears to be assured that Mickie will be a regular fixture on WWE programming in the very near future. If plans for her SmackDown run remain, she would be an excellent boon to the blue brand’s relatively limited female roster.
While WWE presents most of its historical women’s wrestlers in the shadow of Trish Stratus and Lita, Mickie Jame had a storied history with the company that included five Women’s Championships and one Divas Championship, and she even holds a WrestleMania victory. She was also a Knockouts Champion three times in TNA.
Since 2010, she’s wrestled with a variety of promotions and even produced a pair of country music albums.
After the quality of her one-off match in NXT, we can’t wait to see what James does as a full-time member of the main roster.
