We’ve been hearing rumblings about a WWE Women’s Tournament in a similar vein to the Cruiserweight Classic for some time, with some pretty major free agents already expressing public interest. A few more details have just emerged.

As expected, the show will be similar to the CWC, with a weekly program featuring an international list of competitors to be taped. Conflicting reports have placed those tapings in either January or March. According to the Wrestling Observer, prospective talents have been told both dates.

Several women, whose names have yet to be revealed, have already been contacted, confirmed for the tournament, and told which dates to be available. It’s possible that the conflicting schedule information is the result of a staggered taping plan.

Rumors about the signing of Kairi Hojo and Io Shirai are also heating up, and it sounds like both Japanese stars are soon to be on their way to WWE. A strong showing in this women’s tournament would be a perfect way for either of them to debut–or so you would think. However, both are scheduled for Stardom appearances after the tournament tapings are set to take place.
