Paige, Xavier Woods, and former WWE talent Brad Maddox had sex on-camera. That video–and a lot more–got leaked. You already know that. The question is if WWE will do anything to the people involved.
Dave Meltzer reported backstage word on the company’s plans on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio. The most basic rundown of WWE’s intentions? “They’re not gonna do anything to anybody,” Meltzer said.
The overall feeling backstage is that Paige and Xavier are not unique in having explicit materials of themselves recorded–the difference is that they were a victim of a hack. Releasing them would be the wrong thing to do, and so there are no plans to do so.
It seems it would take sponsor pressure for WWE to actually take action against either of the people involved, and that pressure hasn’t happened. If the company were to take action, that would necessitate a consistent policy against sex tapes–which means they’d never be able to bring Hulk Hogan back.
WWE has also invested significant funding into the Rock-produced Paige biopic, and they’ll certainly want to see a return on that investment. From a legal standpoint, their hands are tied on firing Paige while she’s undergoing rehab after a surgery related to in-ring injuries.
So now WWE is simply waiting for the situation to blow over. Assuming no sponsors get upset, that’s exactly what they’ll continue doing.
New Day made a very vague reference to the situation on Raw last night, and it seems we’ll see little more acknowledgement from WWE than that.
