It had to happen eventually. For weeks now Mick Foley’s job as General Manager of “Monday Night Raw” has been in jeopardy and it’s seemed to be a matter of time before he was finally removed from the position. With less than two weeks to go before “Wrestlemania XXXIII”, it seemed that it was going to happen sooner rather than later.

That moment took place in the opening segment of “Monday Night Raw” as Stephanie McMahon finally fired Foley from his position. The final straw was Foley refusing to read a speech from a set of note cards where he was forced to apologize for suggesting that McMahon was the real problem with the show. His mic was cut off and McMahon came out to finally fire him.

Opinion: This is hardly a surprise and that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing. Foley was long rumored to be gone for the sake of hip replacement surgery and there’s nothing wrong with letting him go for the sake of getting better. If nothing else it could free up the spot for Kurt Angle, who Foley himself has endorsed for the job.

Sami Zayn makes a huge career decision: Raw, Dec. 12, 2016
