The WWE will never, ever be the same…….again.
The segment began when the WWE Tag Team Champions came down to the ring to discuss how 2016 was “a New Year for The New Day.” In addition, they proceeded to make fun of WWE Hall of Famer Mike Tyson, who recently was filmed having a hover board accident. During the segment, The New Day began a countdown for the fans, counting them down to a new year of The New Day. When the countdown reached five, the familiar “Y2J Titantron” countdown appeared on the screen, making way for Jericho’s return.
Jericho told fans that he was returning once again to WWE to save the them from the poor product they had been seeing, even going as far as to comment on the low WWE network subscriptions and television ratings. Jericho went on to say that he plans on winning the “Royal Rumble” match, allowing him to main event WrestleMania for the second time.
Jericho has not been seen on WWE television since he was the mystery partner of Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns against the Wyatt Family back at “Night of Champions.” After losing the match, Jericho “shoulder bumped” Ambrose as he exited the ring, leading fans to speculate that maybe we would see something between the superstars in the future.
Hopefully, this will be more than just another one-off appearance for Y2J.
Editor’s Note:
I AM SO EXCITED. While Heel Jericho is MUCH better than FACE Jericho, he is always entertaining and a pleasure to have on WWE programming. I hope we see an Ambrose vs. Jericho WrestleMania match, as I think the two of them would steal the show, since I definitely do not believe he has a shot at winning the “Rumble.” My “Rumble” tickets were already purchased before, but this is just another added bonus. Jericho’s announcement PLUS announcing the return of Brock Lesnar on the same night? WWE definitely started 2016 off on the right foot!
