WWE attempts to trademark KLIQ hand gesture in a new filing, claims PWInsider.com. According to the report, WWE is trying to trademark the hand gesture in order to get New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Bullet Club faction to stop throwing up the sign and having it attached to their programming and merchandise.
WWE recently registered to trademark the hand gesture, and their reasoning was for merchandise. The hand gesture, which was used originally by Shawn Michaels, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Triple H, and Sean “X-Pac” Walkman as their symbol of unification as The KLIQ, was also used by others in the nWo when Nash and Hall took to WCW in 1996.
Triple H has been seen using the gesture with new members of the NXT roster, as reports have even claimed that he’s formed a new KLIQ with them. Hall uses images of the gesture in merchandise currently sold on his official store via ProWrestlingTees.com. WWE, if able to trademark the symbol, would then seemingly be the only ones able to produce such merchandise in the market.
