WWE.com posted an exclusive backstage segment during WWE Payback, where CM Punk tells Paul Heyman that he is not his client. Punk and Heyman are seen talking in the locker room, and Punk discusses being a “Heyman client.” He tells Heyman he’s NEVER been his client, he’s just always been his friend.
Punk then refers to Curtis Axel, who won the Intercontinental Championship Sunday night at Payback, saying that he NEEDS Heyman to guide him. Punk feels that even Brock Lesnar needs Heyman to guide him, but that he does not need that guidance. Before the segment ends, Punk asks Heyman to “just be my friend.” This is definitely the first move of many that will happen over the next few weeks to separate Punk from Heyman, possibly to even feud with him and his “clients.”
